Review: We-Vibe Wand – Princess Previews

We-Vibe Wand

Ask me my favourite and most used type of sex toy, and I’ll tell you that it’s without a doubt wand massagers (although I will admit that suction toys are seeing more and more use in my personal masturbation routines these days). Then ask me my favourite manufacturer of vibrators, and I’ll tell you that it’s We-Vibe, since the motors in their clitoral toys, such as the Tango and Moxie, are some of the most powerful out there. These have been my answers for almost as long as I’ve been blogging, but there has always been a big incompatibility between them… because We-Vibe doesn’t make wand massagers! That is, they didn’t make wand massagers… until now! When I first heard the rumours of the We-Vibe Wand I tried hard to keep my cool in case it wasn’t true, but I couldn’t help being excited for a toy that I had dreamed about for so long. So when I finally received the official release notice from We-Vibe about the toy (and an offer to review it!) I was overjoyed, and now today I’m even more excited to be bringing my review of it to you all.

Product Description

As one of the industry’s leading manufacturers for many years now, I’m sure a lot of thought, time and consideration has been put into the release of We-Vibe’s first ever wand massager, which is simply named Wand, and this is certainly apparent as soon as you first hold the toy. Sleek, stylish and modern, it is absolutely beautiful and exactly the sort of high quality product that I expect from the brand. Covered almost entirely in silky soft silicone, with the only exception being a small band of shiny ABS plastic dividing the handle and head, the Wand is both light-weight and ergonomically designed. By being curved and featuring varying widths, the handle is able to cater to a broader range of user needs, and a rough texture near the end of the handle also adds to this. The head itself is then the largest part of the toy, and this is pleasantly squishy despite its firm core, as well as quite flexible due to its thin neck. While fairly long, the actual girth of the head is said to be similar to other popular wand massagers, making it compatible with all standard wand head attachments. You can then find We-Vibe’s wave logo debossed into the head, which is a neat aesthetic touch that instantly makes the toy recognisable, as well as their main logo and magnetic charging plates at the other end of the toy. The only downside visually to the Wand is that it only comes in purple, which is quite an overdone colour for vibrators, however I don’t mind this too much since this is one of We-Vibe’s brand colours and is also a darker shade than what I’m use to.

We-Vibe Wand and both attachments

As a wand massager the We-Vibe Wand can do everything you’d expect it to. Plus, it also has all the features of a high quality We-Vibe toy, being body-safe, USB rechargeable, fully waterproof and compatible with their phone application. However, it also has some extra special additional features that I’ve never seen before. Firstly, rather than using typical buttons, the Wand uses joystick-inspired controls to adjust its vibration intensities. This means that in addition to the two regular buttons featured on the toy, there is also a small switch on it that can be pushed to increase or decrease the vibrations steadily, allowing you to find the perfect setting with just one touch. The second special feature is then something so ingenious I can’t believe I’ve never thought of it myself. It’s called Smart Silence, and it means that the toy will only vibrate when the head is touching your skin. This allows the toy to make less noise during use and be able to be turned off instantly, all things that are extremely useful when you’re trying to be discreet.

Attachments

In addition to the We-Vibe Wand itself, you also receive two attachments for the toy at no extra cost. This is a great touch and I’ve only ever received one other wand that has included these for free before (although even that toy only included a single attachment). Made from silicone and in We-Vibe’s other brand colour of turquoise, which contrasts perfectly with the purple of the Wand, they both have extremely unique designs and are different from the other wand attachments I own. The first is described by We-Vibe as “fluttery and focused”, and is essentially a ring that is surrounded by a series of semi-circle flaps that vary in size, so that when you run your hand over them they give off a flapping feel.. The second is then clearly intended to be used with a penis, as it features two flaps and a textured interior to essentially turn the Wand into a stroker. On the inside of both attachments is the same We-Vibe wave logo that the Wand’s head features, except rather than being debossed these are embossed, meaning they are designed to fit over each other to effectively lock the attachments in place. Additionally, while most other wand attachments are moulded to fit entirely over the head, by having these be rings instead they are much more likely to work with other massagers in addition to the Wand.

Packaging

We-Vibe Wand with its instructions and packaging

We-Vibe sent the Wand directly to me for review, and as such I won’t go into the shipping details. I’ve reviewed quite a few We-Vibe products lately and their packaging is always very consistent and on-brand, so I had a good idea of what to expect with the box for the Wand. Something I wasn’t expecting, however, is just how big it is, even for a wand massager, and I’d guess it’s probably the biggest sex toy box I’ve ever received. With the dimensions of 37.5cm x 13.5cm x 12.5cm / 14.8″ x 5.3″ x 4.9″, this thing is much bigger than the toy itself and definitely isn’t the sort of thing you’ll be able to hide easily if discretion is important to you (it also didn’t fit in my lightbox, so click here for some proper photos of it). Otherwise though it is beautiful and follows We-Vibe’s usual branding, displaying a outline of the toy and highlighting what it can do. The front can then be lifted off of the internal box (although frustratingly this can take a few minutes as it is a tight fit) to reveal the toy behind a clear plastic sheet, and once the security seals are broken you can lift the entire thing out to access the toy. Under this you can then find the two attachments, as well as the charging cord and instruction manual (although this is very brief and you can find the complete one online). In addition, the Wand also comes with two year warranty.

Charging

We-Vibe Wand on charge

Charging the We-Vibe Wand is easy as it is USB rechargeable. Simply plug one end into a USB port and the other end can then be connected to the magnetic plates on the toy, which have a great connection strength. One particular thing I love about this charging cord is that it is labelled with the toy’s name, which is something I very rarely see and wish more companies would do. When charging a light on the toy should flash and this will become solid once the battery is full. Charging should take 90 minutes, and this should then give you two hours of play time. Additionally, when the toy is almost out of battery, it will alert you by a slow flash of its light.

Controls

I found controlling the We-Vibe Wand quite complicated and confusing, somewhat because I am not use to the Smart Silence or joystick control, but also because the instructions don’t really explain it very well. I have found the more detailed online instructions to be helpful, but honestly even now I’m not sure I fully understand how this thing works. The biggest issue I’ve faced is that increasing and decreasing the vibrations using the joystick seems to do the opposite of what I expect it to do, as whilst I push the stick towards the side with the symbol of what I want to achieve (e.g. I press it towards the side with the plus symbol to increase the vibrations), it seems that We-Vibe instead intend for you to push the stick using the side with the symbol of what you want to achieve (e.g. I press the side with the plus symbol to increase the vibrations). This sort of non-intuitive design is very odd and not what I expect from a thoughtful brand like We-Vibe, especially as it goes against how regular switches and joysticks work (e.g. you don’t flick a light switch towards the “off” label to turn it on).

We-Vibe Wand control panel

Anyway, while I’m still not fully certain of how to use this toy, here’s how I think it all works: To turn the toy on for the first time during a session press the circle power button down for two seconds until it vibrates once (even if Smart Silence is on). You don’t need to press this button again during a session, as even if you turn the toy off it’ll do nothing, and instead to turn it back on again you need to press the joystick in either direction, which will put it on at the intensity you turned it off during (this idea of the Wand being “asleep” rather than fully off during a session is similar to the We-Vibe Melt, and like the Melt the timeout length for this can be changed within the app from anywhere between 15 minutes to 4 hours and 15 minutes). You can then press or hold the joystick to increase or decrease the Wand’s intensity, for which there are roughly 20 levels, and to access the 9 pattern modes you can press the button with the wave symbol. In addition, if you want to disable the Smart Silence mode, which is particularly important when using the Wand’s attachments, you can press the pattern button down for five seconds. Finally, to turn the toy off you can either decrease the intensity till it stops or hold down the power button for two seconds.

The App

This is my fourth time reviewing a product from We-Vibe’s range that is compatible with their phone application, We-Connect, and so for all my thoughts, as well as a look at key features and issues I experienced, you can check out my sex toy app review round-up. Although as for using it with the We-Vibe Wand, this wasn’t really for me as I preferred to just use the manual controls. But it was nice to have the option, especially for the greater partner play opportunities.

First Impressions

As the manufacturer of some of the most powerful vibrators on the market, I obviously had high hopes for the We-Vibe Wand’s motor, and I was not let down in this regard. Its vibrations are immensely powerful and incredibly rumbly, and even though I expected it I was still taken aback. Compared to a powerhouse like the Magic Wand Rechargeable however, which is my current favourite wand vibrator, it sadly still isn’t as strong. But that doesn’t automatically mean that the Wand is inferior to it, as it still offers a larger range of intensities and patterns, as well as a much lower initial speed, which may be great for people who find the Magic Wand too much. Plus, I find the top speed of the Magic Wand too intense for me anyway, so personally I don’t mind this. Then, in regards to noise level, I do have a bit of an issue. I don’t expect the Wand to be completely quiet as it is a massager, however not only is it loud, but it also gives off a rattly sound that I haven’t really heard in a vibrator before and find incredibly off-putting. I will note that compared to the Magic Wand Rechargeable it is technically quieter, but this strange noise definitely makes it seem louder, likely because I am just not use to it.

Smart Silence

We-Vibe Wand Stroker Attachment

In regards to the Smart Silence function, I can’t emphasise just how impressed I am with it, and how much it has completely revolutionised using a vibrator for me. First off, the Wand’s ability to only respond when touching my skin (and lack of response when touching objects around me, such as my bed or a chair) works incredibly well and truly seems like magic. Then, actually trying it out during use is everything I wanted it to be. I have a tendency to stop and start when masturbating, particularly when using wand massagers, as I like to edge and also just get distracted a lot. Usually this means I either have to keep turning the toy off and on, or just have it running for long periods without actually being used. But with the We-Vibe Wand it senses this and turns off on its own (whilst staying at the vibration speed I was at), thus reducing noise and battery loss. Plus, if I’m trying to be discreet with my masturbation, it means I can instantly turn the toy off with just a flick of my wrist! Essentially this feature is a dream come true, and the only downside to it is that now I wish all my toys had it!

My Experience

Testing this toy has been thoroughly enjoyable, and as such I have been using the We-Vibe Wand way more than the usual amount I test a product out for a review. I find the vibrations very similar to the Magic Wand Rechargeable’s during use, and while it’s too soon to say, I wouldn’t be surprised if this toy becomes my most used wand vibrator after this review. Orgasms with it are quick and powerful, and I’ve never felt like it wasn’t strong enough during use even though I am most accustomed to the Magic Wand. Other than the vibrations, the biggest advantage when using it for me is definitely the Smart Silence. However, there are certainly some disadvantages as well, particularly the rattly noise which I really dislike. Then, in regards to the controls I thankfully don’t have the same issues as I’ve mentioned previously, as since I can’t see the symbols I’m not thrown off by them. I do, however, still find using the joystick a little frustrating though, as I am so use to being able to choose between just a few set levels of intensity, that having this huge range is quite overwhelming. Plus, adjusting the vibrations with the joystick isn’t the easiest, as you need to put a fair amount of pressure on it (which can make your arm sore after awhile), and it also doesn’t change very steadily (it starts slow and then suddenly goes fast), so I always find myself jumping back and forth when trying to get a certain speed. Overall this certainly isn’t a deal-breaker with my use of the toy, but it is something I am still actively trying to get use to.

We-Vibe Wand Attachments

Placing the attachments on the Wand does take a bit of time, and this can be even trickier when you’re trying to lock the symbols together, which helps stop them from spinning during use. In trying out the fluttery attachment I have to say it left me quite confused. To be honest I’m really sure how I should be using it, but out of all the different ways I tried none brought me much pleasure. I can imagine it would be nice for foreplay or perhaps for someone who prefers their vibrations to be muffled. As for the stroker attachment, my partner had better results, as he found it quite enjoyable to use and able to bring him to orgasm quickly. However, he did also find it quite heavy and awkward to hold, as he is use to smaller strokers like the Hot Octopuss PULSE III DUO. Additionally, he found the inner texture quite rough and intense, and as such he needed to use quite a lot of lubricant to reduce the drag from this.

Cleaning & Care

Cleaning the We-Vibe Wand is easy since it is waterproof. Just wash it down with some warm water and soap, and then leave to air dry. Depending on how messy it has gotten you may also wish to scrub down the symbol on the head and textured area on the handle. Then the silicone attachments are a little trickier as these are quite intricate, so I would definitely recommend soaking these first and then giving them a good scrub with a spare toothbrush and some soap. Additionally, make sure to only use water-based lubricants with this toy and its attachments.

Final Thoughts

We-Vibe Wand Fluttery Attachment

This has been a long review, but only because this toy can do so much, and as with most toys that have a lot of features, there are both advantages and disadvantages to the We-Vibe Wand. My favourite parts of the toy personally are the amazing vibrations, Smart Silence, and the fact that it is waterproof, whilst my biggest negatives have been the noise it makes, confusing controls and glitchy phone application. But the main thing for me is that I have thoroughly enjoyed using it, and the beauty of sex toys is that during use all of those other frustrations just seem to disappear. I wouldn’t say it has taken my Magic Wand Rechargeable’s top spot yet, but it is certainly not far off and it’ll be interesting to see which toy my hand goes for next time I want a wand vibrator now that this review is over. One last thing to note though is that this is a very high-cost toy, as with a price tag of almost $300 AUD this is now my most expensive wand vibrator, and as such that does make it hard to recommend over something like the Magic Wand Rechargeable which is over a hundred dollars less. Still, it certainly does have a lot of advantages over the Magic Wand, so if these sound good to you (and you can afford it) then I say go for it!

Sadly, the We-Vibe Wand has now been discontinued.

Review: We-Vibe Nova 2 – Princess Previews

We-Vibe Nova 2

Recently I was asked for a rabbit vibrator recommendation from one of my readers whose old toy had just broke, and as I scrolled through almost five years worth of my own reviews to find something suitable, I realised with surprise that there wasn’t a single product I felt I could suggest. I’m not sure whether it’s because rabbit vibrators are so hit or miss and I just haven’t found something I enjoy enough yet, or that they perhaps just aren’t for me, but the bottom line is that I don’t have even one traditional rabbit vibrator that I personally enjoy enough to feel comfortable recommending it to someone else. Of all the rabbits I’ve tried, there have been plenty of alright products, such as The Rabbit Company Come Hither and Vibease Esthesia, but even my current favourite, the Rocks Off Regala, can’t even stimulate my pleasure points effectively. In fact, the best dual-stimulation toys I’ve tried aren’t even rabbits at all, but the Womanizer DUO and SenseMax SenseVibe Warm, two luxury toys that aren’t exactly what people are after when they ask for rabbit recommendations. Plus, the nature of rabbits means that even if I did find one I enjoy, chances are it wouldn’t work for you anyway. But, when I recently heard that We-Vibe were releasing a newer version of their legendary Nova rabbit, a flexible vibrator designed to work with a range of body types and the toy that Womanizer based the DUO’s amazing G-Spot arm on, I was all in.

Product Description

The We-Vibe Nova 2 looks almost like a cross between a traditional rabbit vibrator and the more compact-style dual-stimulators that have come out in recent years, such as the SenseMax SenseVibe Warm. While the handle and G-Spot arm are what you’d expect from this sort of toy, it is the clitoral arm’s appearance that first makes you realise this is something special. Using a massive curve, the likes of which I’ve never seen on a toy before, We-Vibe have set the Nova 2 up for ultimate flexibility, in order to not only ensure that this toy works for a wide variety of people, but to also make sure that contact with the clit and G-Spot is maintained regardless of how you position or thrust with the toy, which in turn allows for blended orgasms. This is achieved in two ways, with the first being the immensely flexible external arm which moves with you during use, and the second being the adjustable internal arm which can be positioned prior to use. The entirety of the toy is then covered in a pink body-safe silicone, which I was actually quite surprised by as it is very squishy, and the controls and logo are imprinted into this at end of the ergonomic handle, whilst the magnetic charging plates are on the other side. Quite a sleek and stylish toy, the only downsides to it for me visually are the fairly obvious seams alongside multiple marks on the silicone that look like they have been caused by the mould (which at first I thought might be an error unique to my copy, but after speaking to other bloggers it seems this is a general issue). Other than this though the Nova 2 is flawless and has all of the features you’d expect from a high quality We-Vibe product, being USB rechargeable and waterproof in addition to its travel lock and compatibility with the brand’s We-Connect phone application. Finally, while the toy is technically anal-safe, it is not intended for this kind of use.

Packaging

We-Vibe Nova 2 Packaging

We-Vibe sent the Nova 2 directly to me for review, and as such I won’t go into the shipping details. As for the packaging this was exactly in line with the company’s usual fun and colourful branding, while still being entirely appropriate for the toy’s more luxury price tag. Featuring a picture of the product alongside information and drawings to demonstrate how it works, the top of the box may then be lifted once the safety seals are cut to reveal the toy inside. Under this you’ll then also find the toy’s charging cable, alongside a satin storage bag, quick-start guide (full instructions can be found here), and a sample packet of Pjur lubricant (however as this contains glycerin I wouldn’t recommend its use). Finally, the We-Vibe Nova 2 also comes with a two year warranty.

Charging

We-Vibe Nova 2 Charging

Charging the We-Vibe Nova 2 is easy as it is USB rechargeable. Simply plug one end into a USB port and the other end can then be connected to the magnetic plates on the toy, which thankfully have a great connection strength so you don’t need to worry about it falling off. When charging a light on the toy should flash and this will become solid once the battery is full. Charging should take 90 minutes, and this should then give you around two hours of play time.

Controls

We-Vibe Nova 2 Buttons

Controlling the We-Vibe Nova 2 with the five buttons on it isn’t the most intuitive, but once you start using it you pick it up fairly quickly. Basically, the plus and minus buttons are what control the toy’s vibrations, whilst the arrow buttons are what control the pattern modes. To turn the toy on first press the plus button, which will place both motors on their lowest steady speed. You can then continue clicking the plus button to increase the vibrations, for which there are roughly 10 levels, or hold it down to quickly place the vibrations at their maximum level. At any point you can also press the minus button, which will decrease the vibration levels, and by holding this down you can turn the toy off. Then, to flick through the toy’s 10 pattern modes you can use the arrow buttons, allowing you to easily go back and forth between these. Finally, there is one last button with a twist symbol, and this allows you to toggle the toy’s dual motors, with one click activating just the clitoral motor, a second click activating just the G-Spot motor, and a final click activating both motors again. In addition to all of this there is also a travel lock function, and this can be activated or deactivated by holding down the plus and minus buttons for two seconds, with success being indicated by the toy vibrating twice.

In addition to controlling the toy with the buttons on it, you can also control it with the We-Connect app, which is particularly great for bluetooth or long distance partner play. I have quite a few toys that work with this app, and as such you can check out my full overview of it at my sex toy app review round-up.

First Impressions

We-Vibe are well known for their immensely powerful and rumbly vibrators, and the Nova 2 is no exception. Both arms feature fantastic vibes that are incredibly strong, and that easily stand up to some of my most powerful internal vibrators such as the L’amorouse Prism V. In fact, one thing that really stands out with this toy is that the vibrations are way more thuddy than I am use to, and give off an almost hammer-like feeling, particularly at lower levels, that I really enjoy. Plus, the noise level is surprisingly also very low, and even with both motors running at full speed I doubt anyone would be able to hear you behind a closed door, which is really something considering the power level!

My Experience

We-Vibe Nova 2

As the insertable shaft of the Nova 2 is fairly thin, inserting it once some good lube has been applied is relatively easy, although if I do want to make things even smoother then warming up first with the Funkit Toys NoFrillDo R is always good. Once inside I find that the internal arm finds my G-Spot with ease, whilst the external arm rests perfectly, albeit somewhat strangely, on my clitoris. This is because, as with all other rabbit vibrators, I expected the tip of the external arm to be what made contact with my clit, but instead it’s actually the back of its curve that does so. As soon as I started thrusting with it though the reason for this became clear, as by having a broad and curved surface against your clit it can slide and move while maintaining contact, which is something no other rabbit vibrator I’ve ever tried has been able to achieve so successfully. Plus, unlike other clitoral arms that are either so flexible that no pressure is applied or so firm that their tip stabs into you, the Nova 2’s curve allows for it to apply maximum pressure broadly. Typically when I use rabbit vibrators a big part of it is finding a middle-ground between both pleasure points, which usually results in neither being fully stimulated, but that is not the case at all with the Nova 2. Instead of compromising between the two, both my G-Spot and clitoris receive full attention with this toy, regardless of how much I thrust or move it around. The result? Absolute unrestricted pleasure, the likes of which I have never experienced with a rabbit vibrator before. It is comparable only to the times I’ve used a very good clitoral toy, such as the We-Vibe Tango, combined with a very good G-Spot toy, such as the L’amorouse Prism V, yet not only is the Nova 2 a lot less effort to use than multiple toys (freeing up one hand for other activities), but it’s also a lot less expensive. Plus, by having both pleasure points being continually stimulated, it is perfect for achieving blended, and even multiple, orgasms.

In regards to the Nova 2’s adjustable G-Spot arm, I did struggle with this somewhat as it’s so stiff that it took me a very long time to work up the courage needed to actually move it, since I was so afraid of breaking it. Thankfully I got there in the end though and was able to try it out in a variety of different positions, but ultimately the default was my favourite anyway. Despite all of this though I absolutely love its inclusion, as it makes the toy way more accessible, and as scary as moving it the first time was I am glad it is so stiff, because otherwise it might move during use thus making G-Spot stimulation with the toy far less effective. It does seem to get looser the more you move it though, so once you find a position you like I’d recommend sticking with it!

Cleaning & Care

We-Vibe Nova 2 G-Spot Arm Adjusted
The G-Spot arm adjusted to be touching the clitoral arm. To view this arm’s full range of movement see the link above.

Cleaning the We-Vibe Nova 2 is easy as it is waterproof. Just wipe it down with some warm soapy water, rinse, and leave to air dry. You can then return it to its storage bag to ensure it stays clean before the next use. Make sure to not use silicone-based lubricant with this product, as it may react badly to the silicone it is made of, but if you do then first perform a spot test.

Final Thoughts

If I am being honest, I had almost completely given up on rabbit vibrators. It felt like even if I did win the sex toy lottery and find one that actually suited my body perfectly, it probably wouldn’t fit anyone else, so what’s the point of even reviewing it? But it seems the sex toy gods at We-Vibe have heard humanity’s struggle, and in response they have blessed us with the answer to our cries: the Nova 2. Now, I’m not saying this toy will work for everyone, but I do believe it will work for a far wider range than any toy before it, and therefore usher in the dawn of a new age of dual-stimulation toys. Plus, it’s not just more versatile, but more pleasurable than any other rabbit vibrator as well, as by combining the curved clitoral arm that flexes and moves with your motions alongside powerful G-Spot vibrations, they have finally given us the ability to achieve non-stop pleasure. This then results in the most glorious blended orgasms I’ve ever experienced with a rabbit, and by far the easiest I’ve ever achieved in general. Truly every aspect of this toy is flawless, and even for a company who is known for their excellence this is still really something. Finally, considering all of this you’d probably expect this toy to be insanely expensive, but it is actually quite reasonably priced! So, all that’s really left to say at this point is that if you want a rabbit vibrator, then I wholeheartedly recommend the We-Vibe Nova 2.

If you’re in Australia, New Zealand or the UK, you can get the We-Vibe Nova 2 from Lovehoney for just $209 AUD, plus use my code GRACE15 to get 15% OFF your total order!

Review: We-Vibe Tango X – Princess Previews

We-Vibe Tango X

When I first started reading sex blogs and toy reviews many years ago, there were a few products that would consistently be referenced across all of my favourite websites. They were things like the Njoy Pure Wand, Vixen Creations VixSkin Mustang, and Magic Wand Rechargeable, legendary toys that continue to maintain a cult following even today. But the main toy that I kept hearing about over and over again, regardless of what the actual review was about, was the versatile We-Vibe Tango. Widely regarded as the most powerful bullet vibrator on the market, it wasn’t long before I got one of my own and fell madly in love with it just like everyone else. A marvel of simplicity mixed with raw power, We-Vibe’s unrelenting lipstick-shaped ABS plastic was the perfect vessel for rumbly vibrations that were ahead of their time, and the fuss-free design complimented them perfectly. But it had a dark secret, with a battery life that was unable to meet the demand its users placed on it. I’ve spoken to people who have owned over ten Tangos in order to get their fix, but when mine died back in 2019, that was it for me, and eventually I found a replacement in the Dame Kip. Since then though I have been just wishing We-Vibe would fix this issue and re-release it, and so when JOUJOU got in touch recently to let me know that was exactly what was happening to celebrate the toy’s 10th birthday, I couldn’t have been happier.

Background

It’s easy to forget, considering how at some point we collectively decided to just call the previous version of this toy the We-Vibe Tango, but it is actually the second edition of the model, officially named the Tango II. The first Tango was released in 2010, however the differences between the two were minimal, and mostly just consisted of an alternative charging cord (AC rather than USB). Shortly after (presumably in 2011 due to the whole 10th anniversary thing) it was then re-released as the version we all know and love, the Tango II, and now again this year as the Tango X (X standing for 10). Advertised as having a stronger and increased range of vibrations alongside an upgraded design, that not only adds a strip of silicone for improved grip but two additional buttons for greater control as well, there is a lot to love with this new version. My main concern though, is that by taking a toy where simplicity was one of its biggest assets and adding more to it, We-Vibe run the risk of over-complicating it and losing that original charm. After all, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it (except for the battery, of course, which definitely needed fixing).

Product Description

We-Vibe Tango X and Tango II
The We-Vibe Tango X alongside the Tango II.

The We-Vibe Tango X is unmistakably the Tango, with its signature lipstick-shape and bold colour options, yet still different enough in order to carve its own identity. The hard ABS plastic, that was one of my favourite aspects of the original, remains, but is now contrasted by a softer silicone that makes up almost half of the toy. Rather than offering an alternative material however, this is solely intended to provide a handle for extra grip and reduced residual vibrations, which is a genius idea. Three buttons then also rest here, protruding slightly from the silicone to allow for them to be pressed quickly and easily in order to control the toy’s 8 intensity levels and 7 modes (a big change from the II’s 8 in total). At the end of the bullet is the magnetic charging plates similar to on the Tango II, however unlike the abrupt flat base of that version, the X comes to a gradual point. Just above the silicone on the plastic is then the We-Vibe logo, and further up is the usable end of the toy with its angled flat surface, which is identical to its predecessor’s. Available in both Cherry Red (which is what I have) and Midnight Blue, these are essentially just darker shades of the Tango II’s pink and blue, allowing them to remain familiar while much more gender-neutral. Finally, as with the II, the Tango X is both fully waterproof and USB rechargeable, although another upgrade is the inclusion of a much-needed travel-lock, for those of us who just can’t bear to part with a good vibe.

Packaging

We-Vibe Tango X Packaging

JOUJOU sent the We-Vibe Tango X out to me on the 11th of March and I received it promptly by the 15th. As usual the box was completely discreet, with no mention of the sender or the contents, and for my full unboxing you can check out my recording here. The packaging for the toy itself is then consistent with other We-Vibe products I’ve received lately, featuring their new minimal branding which I just love. A beautiful gradient of red features (to match my colour choice), alongside images of the toy and some basic information on it. Once the safety seals are removed a smaller box can then be slide out from the cover, to reveal the toy and a sweet introductory message inside. Lastly, you can lift up the divider the toy rests in to reveal its accessories, which are a beautiful white satin storage bag, charging cord, quick-start guide (this is fine, but you can find the full instructions online here), safety manual, and a sample packet of Pjur lubricant (however as this contains glycerin I wouldn’t recommend its use). Finally, the We-Vibe Tango X also comes with a two year warranty.

Charging

We-Vibe Tango X Charging

Charging the We-Vibe Tango X is easy as it is USB rechargeable. Simply plug one end into a USB port and the other end can then be connected to the magnetic plates on the toy, which are thankfully far stronger and more stable than on the previous Tango, so you don’t need to worry about it falling off. When charging a light on the toy should flash and this will become solid once the battery is full. Charging should then take 90 minutes, and this should give you around two hours of play time. Additionally, when the toy is almost out of battery it will let you know by flashing its light. Overall, other than the improved magnets, this is all the same as the Tango II, which is great to see (although hopefully it doesn’t mean it also has the same life span).

Controls

A big concern I had when I first saw the redesign of the Tango X was the increase of buttons from one to three. Now, I’m all for the convenience that extra buttons provide, particularly ones that allow you to decrease speeds as this is often a feature I long for in toys, and so it definitely wasn’t bad per se. But it is just the biggest step away from the Tango II’s simplicity that We-Vibe have taken with the X, and it wouldn’t be the first time buttons have put me off using an otherwise excellent bullet vibrator. Anyway, there are two main buttons on the Tango X for controlling the vibration speeds, which are clearly labelled with plus and minus symbols, alongside a smaller button between them for controlling the pattern modes, which is just represented by a small wavy line (gonna be honest, I didn’t even realise this was a button until writing this review as it just looks like a decorative line, but thankfully I don’t enjoy patterns anyway!). To turn the Tango X on just press the plus button, which will place it on its lowest steady speed. You can then continue clicking the plus button to increase the speed, or use the minus button to decrease it again, and both buttons can also be held down to move through the levels quickly. There are eight levels of vibration intensities, and at any time you can also click the middle button to cycle through the 6 pattern modes, all of which can also be increased or decreased in intensity. When done you can then simply hold the minus button down until the toy stops vibrating. Finally, to activate or deactivate the travel lock mode you’ll need to hold both the plus and minus buttons down for two seconds, with success being indicated by the toy vibrating twice, and charging it will also deactivate this.

First Impressions

With such high expectations for this little toy I couldn’t help but be nervous when I turned it on for the first time, but while rumbly powerful vibrations were what I was met with, I can’t deny that it didn’t seem to quite live up to my expectations or memory. One big downside to this review is that while I still have it for photos, I can no longer turn on my We-Vibe Tango II, and so I can’t actually confirm this for myself. But the general consensus from other reviews I have read is that the two toys are about the same except with a deeper rumble, which in some instances can make the intensity feel as if it’s reduced. So it seems perhaps that this, combined with two years of building the toy up in my mind, led to this initial disappointment. In regards to its noise level however I was definitely impressed, as it is unexpectedly quiet for something so powerful, and would be ideal for those who need to be discreet.

My Experience

We-Vibe Tango X

My experience with the We-Vibe Tango X in use has sadly been much the same as my thoughts when I first turned it on. I was so ready to absolutely fall in love with this toy and get right back to the powerful vibrations I use to enjoy almost every day for years… but have instead been left feeling unimpressed, and frequently reach for my Dame Kip instead in disappointment. At first I thought We-Vibe had seriously fucked up, but once other bloggers started posting their glowing reviews I was left feeling unsure. Is my Tango X faulty? Or am I faulty? …Or perhaps I’ve just spent so much time finding and adjusting to alternative bullets over the last two years that the Tango no longer does it for me, whereas most other bloggers are going straight from the Tango II to the X? After all, it’s not that there is anything wrong with the X. It is powerful, but it’s just that when I put it on my clitoris I am left longing for more, and the Kip seems to fill that need perfectly.

While the Tango X wasn’t quite what I had hoped for, I’d like to reiterate that it is still a great toy, and I have mostly enjoyed my time with it after I got over my initial surprise. While I find my current two favourite clitoral vibrators, the Dame Kip and Lovehoney X Love Not War Amore, more powerful than it, it certainly beats them in regards to its rumbliness, and I far prefer it to my other rumble-focused vibe, the Hot Octopuss AMO. The silicone handle is a great addition, offering both added grip and also reducing the amount of vibrations on my hand, which make it far more comfortable to hold than with the Tango II. As for the buttons, while I do still think their placement could make them difficult to use, considering I’ve just been using the toy on its highest setting without change, I don’t really feel like I was able to test them out properly, however I did enjoy not having to worry about accidentally clicking too far and turning on the pattern modes. Finally, orgasms with the Tango X have been super satisfying, they just take a little longer than I am use to these days.

Compatibility

One last concern I had about the redesign of the Tango that I wanted to quickly touch on was its ability to be used in compatible sleeves. You see, there are a number of silicone sleeves designed to work with bullets out there, and most use the proportions of the We-Vibe Tango II. It’s another aspect that makes this toy so popular, as it’s so universally loved that buying one also gives you access to mix-and-match a huge variety of attachments from indie and big-name brands alike, such as the Tantus Perfect Plug Plus, Uberrime Tentare Tentacle, and Rocks Off Butt Quiver. So when I saw the silicone on the end of the Tango X, which will not only be harder to insert but also changes the dimensions of the toy, I was worried. Unfortunately it seems I was right to be, as I wasn’t able to insert it into most of my bullet compatible products, and those that did work faced another surprisingly obvious issue: the buttons were inaccessible due to being on the length of the toy rather than at the end. So sadly for those of us who have a range of accessories for the Tango II, it’s likely they will not follow over to the X. Plus, considering the II has now been discontinued, I’m not sure what makers or owners of these sorts of products are going to do, with the only toy I can think of to recommend as an alternate being the Nu Sensuelle Point (a previous favourite of mine that died around the same time as my Tango II). Still, making the Tango X incompatible with the hundreds of products designed for the II and then discontinuing it on top of that seems like an odd decision from We-Vibe, and an even stranger way to treat their loyal fan-base, and as much as I enjoyed the silicone handle and extra buttons, if I had to choose between those and the attachments I would go with the old design any day of the week.

Cleaning & Care

We-Vibe Tango X Storage Bag

Cleaning the We-Vibe Tango X is easy as it is waterproof. Just wipe it down with some warm soapy water, rinse, dry, and then store it in the bag it came with. Make sure to also not use silicone-based lubricant with this product, as it may react badly to the silicone on the handle, but if you do then first perform a spot test.

Final Thoughts

Messing with perfection is never a good idea, and while the thought of a new and improved We-Vibe Tango II was exciting at first, this quickly wore off when I realised a lot of what made the original special was missing from the Tango X. The fuss-free design that you could just pick up and go, matched with a versatile shape for use alongside silicone attachments, were some of its best attributes, and neither remain with the X. Plus, whether I’ve changed or it has, the vibrations just don’t seem like what they use to be, so much so that I’m unsure whether I will continue using it after this review. There were positives too though, with the silicone handle both improving grip and providing a barrier for the vibrations, alongside an upgraded magnetic charger and all-important travel-lock. Not to mention that if I wasn’t directly comparing this to one of my favourite bullet vibrators of all time this would be a completely different review, as it is still an extremely good toy, just not as good as what I had hoped considering my love for its predecessor. So while I can’t recommend the We-Vibe Tango X as strongly as I use to, I do think that if you’re looking to buy a bullet vibrator, particularly if you like rumbly vibrations, then this would still be a great option to consider.

You can get the We-Vibe Tango X from JOUJOU for just $129.95 AUD / $94 USD!

Widely regarded as the most powerful bullet vibrator on the market, it wasn’t long before I got one…

Review: We-Vibe Touch X – Princess Previews

We-Vibe Touch X

There’s understandably been a lot of hype lately surrounding the We-Vibe Tango X, considering it’s the long-awaited upgrade to one of the most popular vibrators ever made. In fact, the expectations have been so high that when I reviewed it a few months ago, I was somewhat unimpressed, as while there wasn’t anything necessarily wrong with it, I just felt it wasn’t able to live up to its predecessor’s legacy. But while all eyes have been on the Tango X, another new We-Vibe product has quietly begun making waves of its own. The We-Vibe Touch has long been the lesser-known sister toy to the Tango, with the two of them being released together originally and for every upgrade since, including the latest X generation. Despite both being clitoral vibrators using the same powerful motor however, the two cater to complete opposite ends of the spectrum, with the thin and rigid ABS plastic of the Tango being ideal for pin-point stimulation, whilst the soft silicone and sculpted body of the Touch boasting broad vibrations. So, with the Tango not really doing it for me anymore, I figured now was the perfect time to finally get to know the Touch X, and JOUJOU agreed.

Background

The We-Vibe Touch X is somewhat surprisingly (especially considering the name) only the third edition of the Touch, with the original coming out in 2010 and being shortly followed by the more well-known Touch II in 2011. The differences between these two were minimal, and mostly just consisted of a switch to matte silicone and USB charging. While I never managed to get my hands on the II, I do actually own the original, however since I never reviewed it and found the glossy silicone sticky and irritating, it is not a toy I really have any experience with outside of simply using it for photos over the years. Skip to 2021, and We-Vibe are finally giving the Touch its first proper upgrade to celebrate its 10th anniversary (now the name makes sense). Plus, unlike the Tango X, the changes between the Touch II and X are thankfully less obvious, allowing it to keep most of what people know and love about this toy.

Product Description

We-Vibe Touch X and Touch OG
The Touch X meets Touch OG.

At first glance, the We-Vibe Touch X is identical to its predecessors, particularly when you’re viewing it from the front (something that was definitely not the case with the Tango X, due to the addition of a silicone handle). It has the exact same hourglass-like figure, with a rounded bottom and tapered tip, alongside a concave dip that kind of makes it look like a spoon. Once you turn it over however, you quickly notice that whilst the shape again remains the same, the controls and charging plates have now moved from the base of the toy to this flat surface. Plus, rather than having just a single button like before, there are now three for far greater control and vibration variety, making this by far the biggest upgrade between the Touch II and X. Furthermore, this change in location has also allowed for the magnetic connection strength on the charging plates to significantly improve, and We-Vibe’s updated logo also features here between the plates and buttons. Sticking with the soft matte silicone of the II, the colours have also then been updated, with the Touch currently available in a lovely coral (which is what I have) and green. Finally, whilst popular features such as a low-power alert, waterproofing, and USB rechargability all remain, another brilliant addition has been made in the form of a travel lock.

Packaging

We-Vibe Touch X Packaging

JOUJOU sent the We-Vibe Touch X out to me on the 11th of March and I received it promptly by the 15th. As usual the box was completely discreet, with no mention of the sender or the contents, and for my full unboxing you can check out my recording here. The packaging for the toy was then essentially the same as what I received with the Tango X and other recent We-Vibe products, just with slight changes to feature the Touch X instead. A minimalist yet high-quality box, a beautiful gradient features alongside images of the toy and some basic information on it. Finally, the We-Vibe Touch X also comes with a two year warranty.

Charging

We-Vibe Touch X Charging

Charging the We-Vibe Touch X is easy as it is USB rechargeable. Simply plug one end into a USB port and the other end can then be connected to the magnetic plates on the toy, which are thankfully far more stable than on the original Touch. When charging a light on the toy should flash and this will become solid once the battery is full. Charging should then take 90 minutes, and this should give you around two hours of play time. Additionally, when the toy is almost out of battery, it will let you know by flashing its light. Overall, other than the improved magnets, this is all the same as on the Touch II.

Controls

On both the Touch X and Tango X, the biggest change has been the increase from one button to three, which has also resulted in far more vibration modes. But while it sounds great, this was actually one of the things I struggled most with when testing the Tango X, firstly because I like my bullet vibrators to be simple, and secondly because I had grown accustom to the old system. Thankfully though with no previous experience or expectations to take into my tests of the Touch X, I found the switch all too easy, and have really enjoyed the level of control I have over it. Plus, I do usually expect a bit more functionality when it comes to clit vibes rather than bullets, as they’re often larger and more complex. Of the three buttons on the Touch X, two are for increasing or decreasing the vibration strengths, as indicated by their plus and minus symbols, and the smaller button between them is for adjusting the pattern mode, as indicated by the wavy line. I love that these are clearly labelled (although like on the Tango X I didn’t notice the pattern button until later as it looks like a decorative element) and obvious to the touch, and in addition to their appearance they also function exactly the same as on the Tango X. As such, to turn the Touch X on just press the plus button, which will place it on its lowest steady speed. Finally, to activate or deactivate the travel lock mode, you’ll need to hold both the plus and minus buttons down for two seconds, with success being indicated by the toy vibrating twice, and charging it will also deactivate this.

First Impressions

Turning on the We-Vibe Touch X for the first time, I was impressed yet not surprised at its powerful and rumbly vibrations, considering it likely shares a motor with the Tango X. Of course, even with this the vibes do come through quite differently, and I actually feel like they penetrate slightly deeper with the Touch’s soft silicone over the hard plastic of the Tango. In comparison to my original Touch, there is then a big difference, particularly at the lower levels, with the vibrations not only feeling stronger in addition to how much more variety there is, but also a lot more rumbly. Plus, in comparison with my current favourite clitoral vibrator, the Dame Kip, I find that the Touch X does indeed feel stronger, if only slightly. As for noise level, I do find it a bit louder than the Tango X, but it is still very quiet considering how powerful it is, and so I think it would be suitable for those who need to be discreet.

My Experience

We-Vibe Touch X and Tango X
The We-Vibe Touch X alongside sister-toy Tango X.

When reviewing sex toys I usually test them out around three to five times over a period of a week or two. But I have actually been using the We-Vibe Touch X for months now, and on far more than just five occasions. You see, I originally began testing it alongside the We-Vibe Tango X when I reviewed that back in June, and at the same time as I was desperately struggling with that, I was slowly falling in love with the Touch X. In fact, it’s now at the point that when I need to grab a clitoral vibrator for use alongside another toy, I go for the Touch instead of my beloved Dame Kip, meaning that while all bets were on the Tango X to finally knock the Kip off its throne, it is in fact the underdog Touch X that has taken out the win. With powerful yet rumbly vibrations, I find the Touch X more satisfying than when using either the Kip or the Tango X, and I love how I can firmly press the soft silicone against myself for maximum contact, which reminds me of my favourite toy of all time, the Magic Wand Rechargeable. I also find the shape very ergonomic, fitting comfortably in my hand with my fingers resting naturally over the buttons for easy control (although I do tend to just place it on the highest speed before I even begin), whilst the silicone allows it to pair far better with hard insertable toys, such as the Njoy Pure Wand, than the plastic of the Tango. As for downsides, the only thing I can really think of is that it does take a little while to turn off, as it needs to decrease in speed first, but this seems minor in comparison to the rest of the toy.

Cleaning & Care

Cleaning the We-Vibe Touch X is easy as it is waterproof. Just wipe it down with some warm soapy water, rinse, dry, and then store it in the bag it came with. Make sure to also not use silicone-based lubricant with this product, as it may react badly to the silicone it is made with, but if you do then first perform a spot test.

Final Thoughts

We-Vibe Touch X Close Up

I always thought the We-Vibe Touch X was going to be good, but my attention was so focused on the Tango X that I didn’t really stop to think that it could be the one to come out on top. So you can imagine my surprise when I used the two of them together for the first time and it was the clear winner! Whatever the reason the Tango X didn’t work out for me, it doesn’t really matter anymore, not when I now know how the Touch X can make me feel instead. Plus, not only is it now my favourite of this dynamic duo, but it’s also my favourite clitoral vibrator in general, taking over from the Dame Kip. A flawless toy in regards to both functionality and appearance, the Touch X gives me some amazing orgasms too, and while its shape allows it to stay super versatile, I must say I have a particular affinity for its squishy tip. Overall, whether you’re looking for your first vibrator or you just feel like an upgrade, I think you’re going to love this, and so I can’t recommend the We-Vibe Touch X more.

We-Vibe
Review Round-Up: Sex Toy Apps

Sex Toy Apps

This year I’ve already reviewed more app compatible sex toys than ever before, and we still have three months to go! Although as technology continues to become a vital part of our everyday lives, I suppose this is only to be expected. Until now I have included detailed guides on all apps I come across within my usual product reviews. But that isn’t working anymore. Firstly, the in-depth way I write my reviews doesn’t translate all that well to apps. Plus, since apps get updates that completely erase previous versions, there’s no point in having 500 words in a review from two years ago on an app that’s since been overhauled, even if the toy itself is still popular. So, from now on you can find all my thoughts on the world’s best adult apps right here at my sex toy app review round-up!

App compatible vibrators are hands down the biggest innovation to hit the adult industry in the last decade. Replacing the remote-controlled toys of the previous generation, now users are able to not just adjust the vibrations on their products from a distance, but have a far greater level of control than ever before, syncing toys to music, audiobooks, the sound of your partner’s voice, and even video games, whenever the mood strikes. Although the advanced capabilities local Bluetooth connection brings seems to pale in comparison to what app-controlled toys now offer long-distance couples. Being able to control a product over the internet, no matter where you are in the world, has been a game changer for so many, and as more app toys get released every week, the variety of options on offer only continues to improve.

The only problem is, how do you possibly choose which sex toy app to try? Whilst all of these apps are available for free to download, which is worthwhile doing now if you want to get a feel for how it’s going to look, you’ll need a compatible product to be able to access any of the features. Plus, with glitches being so common in this kind of tech, you can’t always rely on what the app store tells you. That’s why I’m breaking it all down and laying out my personal experiences with some of the most popular apps on the market, as well as offering some recommendations on who they’d be best for, to help you make your mind up.

Quick Overview

In a hurry? Start here. This table gives a brief look at each app in the round-up and how it fares compared to the others when it comes to some of the most common sex toy app features. I’ve also included my personal rankings here, for an even quicker way to seperate app royalty from the duds. Then, if you want more details on any of the features, glitches (which are marked with a *), or want to know what toys are available with it, keep on reading.

App Reviews

This round-up is an ongoing project that I will be updating regularly with more sex toy apps. So if you don’t see what you’re looking for, check back soon. I’d also recommend checking the dates at the bottom of each review. Apps are updated frequently, and whilst I always strive to bring you the most up-to-date information, there’s going to be times when this information is outdated.

These apps have been tested on my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Coming soon: Satisfyer, Monster Pub, ZALO, Lovehoney & Vibease

Honey Play Box

The Honey Play Box app (“HoneyPlayBox” in the app store) is a newer sex toy app with a growing range of features. Unfortunately, it struggles with glitches near constantly, making use difficult. Additionally, many of the originally advertised features, such as a community mode, have since been removed. In a win for accessibility, however, they have recently introduced a voice command system for some of their products, the first app I have tried to implement such a feature. Plus, I do like the simple design, and hope a update fixes what is otherwise a promising app soon.

  • Bluetooth Control: Choose from the same settings your toy has or access further steady speeds. You can also use your mic for control.
  • Music Mode: Two preloaded songs are offered, or use songs from within your phone’s memory. Alternatively, it can connect seamlessly with the Spotify app.
  • Voice Control: Say “Hey Honey” to choose from a range of voice command options.
  • Long Distance Control: Toy users can either send a link, which allows their partner to control the toy through a browser, or connect to a partner within the app.
  • Online Chat: In addition to a basic text chat, audio and video calls are available, and you’ll have the option to offer toy control during, which works as an overlay so you can still hear / see each other if desired.
  • Pressure Sensing Mode: Vibration speed will change in response to how much pressure is applied to the toy (not available on all products).
  • Menstruation: Log your period days, as well as details such as flow and pain, and see a prediction of your next cycle.
  • Wellness: At the end of sessions, you’ll see how long you spent, an estimation of how many calories you burned and your vaginal temperature.

That I’ve reviewed:

More products:

  • This version of the app is the glitchiest I’ve ever tried, with far too many errors to list here. I’ll mention those I feel are important, but please note that almost every feature on this app has a tendency to not always work
  • Voice control does not always work
  • Cannot input some data in menstruation screen, and records can disappear
  • Pressure control is not sensitive enough to work when product is vaginally inserted
  • Privacy passcode doesn’t always come up, and occasionally the app will log you out or crash
  • Temperature control isn’t always accurate
  • Product can start randomly vibrating, with the app not being able to turn it off
  • Quality on video calls is very poor
  • You’ll need to select a gender – options are boy, girl, and secret

With this app having so many issues, there are only three things I would recommend it for. The first is if you want to use the voice control, and the second is if you want Spotify integration (keeping in mind that both of these can be particularly glitchy). The third is if you want the convenience of sending a link to hand over control, rather than your partner also needing the app, but want to avoid spending extra for this capability with a Lovense product.

We-Vibe

The We-Vibe app (previously called “We-Connect”) has been through many iterations since I first tested it in 2017. It’s always had trouble with glitches, but unfortunately I’ve found the most recent update to be the worst of them all. Whilst it has many features, most of them don’t work or glitch when paired with certain products. Additionally, whilst I enjoy its bright visuals and prominent toy imagery at home, it is not suitable for discreet use, especially compared to previous versions of the app.

  • Bluetooth Control: Swipe, touch, or use the mic to control the speed of your toy. Further patterns are included, and the unique “Multi Vibe” divides the screen into four, allowing you to quickly move between modes.
  • Pattern Playlists: Custom patterns are no longer available, but you can make a playlist of your favourites.
  • Multiple Toys: You can have at least two toys connected at once, and control them simultaneously.
  • Long Distance Control: Both parties need the app. Text chat and audio / video calls are available, and toy control may be exchanged. Set reactions, such as “more” or “less”, make quick communication easy.
  • Toy Customisation: Make changes to a product’s maximum intensity and sleep mode, for use even when you’re disconnected from the app.
  • Advanced Data Protection: Something the app will remind you of every chance it gets. You also don’t need to make an account.
  • Intimate Inspiration: Sex education and tips included on the homepage.

That I’ve reviewed:

More products:

  • Toy battery not always accurate
  • Included toy video guides are mostly useless
  • Some toys are only able to run at one speed within the app
  • Music syncing does not work
  • Frequent glitches during long distance control, such as an inability to connect, never-ending loading screens, laggy or non-existent vibration response, and more

Pink Punch

The Pink Punch app (called “PinkPunch App” in the app store) is a new app which is fairly basic in nature. Yet it makes up for this with its impressive visuals, which use early 2000s aesthetics mixed with a cyberpunk feel to create a sense of nostalgia and fun. Plus, whilst it doesn’t offer much outside of its bluetooth and long distance control, it is almost free of glitches, a rare occurrence for sex toy apps.

  • Bluetooth Control: Flick through a range of extra modes and swipe to adjust the strength from levels 0 to 100.
  • Long Distance Control: Both parties need the app. Basic text chat and audio calls are available, and the partner without the toy takes control.
  • Instructions: PDF manuals for toys are available to access, although languages are limited.
  • Records & Achievements: View statistics on your toy use and claim awards for completing goals.
  • Vibration changes can be laggy
  • You’ll need to select a gender – male and female are the only options

If you care less about fancy features and just want a reliable app for bluetooth and long distance control, this is it. The downside is that there are currently only two products available for it, and, like the app, they’re more interesting visually than in use.

Lovense

The Lovense app (called “Lovense Remote” in the app store) is on a different level from other sex toy apps here. This is as Lovense are a very tech-focused company and their apps are of equal importance to their toys. Whilst it has a few glitches, the countless features (many of which aren’t available anywhere else) more than make up for this, and frequent updates mean there’s always going to be something new to enjoy.

  • Bluetooth Control: Various functions allow you to swipe for control. Custom patterns, music syncing and mic control also available.
  • Long Distance Control: If both partners have the app, you can connect to transfer toy control. Text chats and audio / video calls are also available, and you can even create groups.
  • Control Link: An alternate long distance control option, you can generate a link to provide a partner basic control. This can be timed, and you also have the option to share it to Lovense’s Discord server and sister app, Tophy.
  • Wish Lists: Create your own wish list of Lovense products within the app, or gift products to other people.
  • Speed Mode: Designed for a thrilling passenger experience, the faster you move, the faster your toy will go.
  • Games: Connect the app to your Steam account for a range of compatible gaming options, or play the side-scrolling endless runner, Projekt Melody: Melware Rises, which is included within the app.
  • Custom UI: You can make changes to the homepage and enable dark mode, helping the app to be more discreet.
  • Toy Customisation: Make changes to a product, including maximum intensities, disabling of LEDs and reprogramming the included patterns, for use even when you’re disconnected from the app.
  • Community Patterns: View and save custom patterns from other users, or share your own.

That I’ve reviewed:

More products:

  • Alarm function doesn’t work
  • Mic control can be glitchy
  • You can only access “liked” Spotify songs, rather than playlists
  • Running patterns at 4x speed can be glitchy

There’s no question that this is the most advanced app on the market. However, Lovense’s toys do come at a premium, so you’ll need to consider whether you’ll really make use of all these extra features.

SVAKOM

The SVAKOM app (called “SVAKOM” in the app store) is a fuss-free app that offers everything you’d expect from a sex toy app. Bluetooth control, long distance control, music control and more are all included in its simple design, which focuses on usability rather than visuals. And it has paid off, with the app featuring almost no glitches. Plus, with such a wide range of products in their catalogue, it’s no surprise this is one of the more popular apps on the market.

  • Bluetooth Control: Access further vibration modes and use a slider to adjust the intensity as needed. Can also be controlled via touch or your microphone.
  • Custom Patterns: Save your sessions in Touch Mode as a custom pattern or combine favourite preset patterns to create your own playlist.
  • Music Mode: In addition to being able to assess songs already in your phone’s memory, you can quickly and easily import MP3s from your computer to your phone via SVAKOM’s wifi uploader. Some songs are also provided if you do not have access to any.
  • Remote Mode: Create a “room” and send your partner the invite code. They join via the app and can take control of the toy via the preset, touch, music or custom pattern modes, as well as text or video chat with you. Provided reactions make communication easier, and video calls may even be minimised so that play can continue.
  • Guest Mode: No requirement to make an account for you or your partner.

That I’ve reviewed:

More products:

  • Sensitivity slider on Sound Mode makes little to no impact.
  • Using Heat Mode within the app is unnecessary on toys that can control it manually, especially since you need to keep the page open for it to work.
  • Battery level isn’t always accurate and frequently jumps around.

A great all-rounder app, this is my recommendation for those looking for something versatile that is still on the cheaper side. Not only does the app have a good selection of features with very little glitches, but SVAKOM offer a huge range of compatible products, which makes this the choice for those who want a toy collection that all runs on the same software.
