Review: Laid D.1 Stone Dildo

Laid D.1 Stone

I’ve always been very interested in the healing and enhancement properties that come with different types of stones or crystals. I have very fond memories as a kid of picking out stones that were supposed to help me in certain areas, such as ‘improves your art’ or ‘helps you make friends’, and I still have a rather large collection. As such, I have lusted after the stone collection of toys from Laid ever since I first saw them. Unfortunately Laid products are both expensive and not very common to see in Australia, so they quickly fell to the bottom of my wishlist. Last month however I announced my partnership and affiliation with Australian retailer JOUJOU. As part of this I was able to choose a product from their range to review, and you can imagine my excitement when I saw they stocked Laid. I was most interested in their original dildo design, the Laid D.1 Stone, and set about eagerly waiting for it to arrive.

Material

The Laid D.1 Stone is made out of Blue Pearl Larvikite, which is also known as Black Norwegian Moonstone. Laid themselves are a Norwegian company as well as the stone which is from the Oslo Rift in Norway, which I find particularly neat since Norway is one of my favourite countries (I always have scenery from there as my desktop wallpaper). Not only that but the stone is approximately 300 million years old, which is just an insane thought that instantly makes this dildo 300 million times cooler than any of my others. The idea that this piece of stone has been around that long before being made into a dildo for me to use is just crazy. The stone itself is believed to have a strong connection to the earth and protective and grounding abilities. Through some research I also found the stone is meant to great for psychic uses as well as maintaining youth and healing various parts of the body such as brain function, body tissue and blood pressure, as well as many more properties. This may all sound like a load of bull to you and you may be solely interested in what the dildo feels like which is fine, but to me this hugely enhances the idea of using this dildo.

Product Description

Laid D.1 Stone

The toy itself is asymmetrical and designed for G-spot stimulation. Creators Line Iren Andersen and Karianne Ronning purposely designed its unusual shape, a feature that had not really been seen in sex toys before, although now you can find a similar design in the We-Vibe Rave, since Laid was acquired by the same company who owns We-Vibe. The asymmetry is because the dildo is designed to be gently twisted or turned back and forth against the G-spot, rather than thrusted, giving it an interesting and varied surface for increased stimulation. While it may look like a double ended dildo, only one end of the Laid D.1 Stone is designed for internal use, with the smaller and more pointy end being designed as a handle. This is very obvious when holding it, as the handle end has clearly been designed with this in mind as my hand fits perfectly and it feels very natural when holding it. The Laid logo is also printed on this end of the toy, which acts as a way for me to know if I’m holding the toy the right way up, plus this also has a slightly rough surface so I can tell even when the lights are off or I’m using it under the covers. The dildo itself is relatively small although since it is stone it’s completely firm so if you are not use to penetration then it may be difficult to insert. Overall though the material is very slick and smooth so not much lubricant is needed. It is 20 cm / 7.9 inches long and has a diameter of 3.7 cm / 1.5 inches, and as one would imagine it is quite heavy, weighing in at 400g / 14oz. The stone is, of course, very beautiful, it mostly appears to be shades of grey, but in certain lights you can catch a glimpse of the blue tones. Finally, since it has no base it is not anal safe or harness compatible.

The Sender

Since it is my first time working with them I also just want to quickly shine my spotlight on JOUJOU quickly. They are an Australian based retailer who stock a bunch of my favourite brands, such as Tantus, We-Vibe and Fun Factory, and the majority of their products are made with body-safe materials. They have discreet shipping, a 30 day no-questions-asked return policy, and free shipping on orders over $200 AUD. Their flat rate for regular delivery is $9.99 AUD and for express it is only $13.99. Plus they have a best price guarantee, meaning if you find one of their products somewhere for cheaper, they’ll beat it by 5%! While they are Australian based, my international readers can also purchase from them if you pay via PayPal.

Delivery & Packaging

Laid D.1 Stone Packaging

My order was placed with JOUJOU on the 10th of October and it promptly arrived on the 13th. Since they are Australian based I expected fast shipping but this was very quick even for that. When receiving review items I don’t always get an official order form sent to me so I don’t get any email notifications or tracking details, but I did for this and I just wanted to mention how great I found their notification system. I was emailed when the order was placed, sent, in transit, out for delivery and delivered. This might seem like a little much but I’m the sort of person who likes to know where her parcels are at and I don’t always have time to manually check the tracking so I really liked this touch. When the parcel arrived there was no mention of JOUJOU or what the product contained inside was at all, so you can trust JOUJOU to be discreet in delivering your items.

The Laid packaging is a simple but stylish brown cardboard box which has information about the toy printed on it. Inside the box is some instructions on how to correctly use the toy to best stimulate your G-spot, as well as a certificate of authenticity which is a really nice touch. The toy is kept in place and protected by a foam cut out. Overall I really like this packaging, I’m a big fan of minimalist designs and I think Laid have done this well. My only vice is that there is no storage bag to keep it in. Usually this wouldn’t be a concern of mine, I am use to receiving toys without storage bags even though I love them, but due to the material of this dildo I fear putting it away without one. Even my regular storage solution of a plastic zip lock bag doesn’t feel good enough for it, and even though it’d probably do more harm to my other toys than to itself I am constantly paranoid about it somehow getting a scratch. Right now I am using the foam cut out which I managed to remove from the box for its storage, but I’ll likely be making my own bag for it soon.

My Experience

I find inserting this toy relatively easy due to how smooth it is and not much lube is needed. Similar to metal and glass toys it is initially very cold and after a lot of use will heat up to match your body temperature. Personally I am not a fan of anything cold touching my genitals so I prefer to warm it up in my hands prior to use or run it under warm water. If temperature play is something you enjoy however this dildo certainly is good for it. Once inside you are supposed to follow Laid’s instructions on how to stimulate your G-spot. They recommend inserting the dildo, then starting to pull it back out until you feel slight resistance, then angling the dildo up so it is resting against your G-spot and then twisting the dildo to stimulate the G-spot with the asymmetrical head. I’m sure these instructions work great on people with G-spots that suit them, but unfortunately as always I have an almost non-existent G-spot and so it does absolutely nothing for me. This was a disappointment, I am use to silicone G-spot stimulation dildos doing nothing for me, but since my only G-spotting dildo that actually works, the Comet Wand, is also made of a firm material I had high hopes that the D.1 would work for me. Determined not to give up I tried first warming up my G-spot using the Comet Wand and then going back to the D.1. After this the Laid D.1 Stone could finally stimulate my G-spot if angled just right and when thrusted up onto it it made for some amazing orgasms. Sadly the twisting method that the toy was designed for still didn’t work for me, as I found I needed a lot of pressure to be able to feel anything.

Laid D.1 Stone

Ultimately though if I have to use another toy that stimulates my G-spot better just to warm up so I can stimulate it with another weaker toy then it probably isn’t worth it. If I was able to use it to stimulate my G-spot without any warm up however then I could definitely see the potential in the toy. I can insert it without having to first stretch which isn’t something I can do with the Comet Wand, so it would mean I could access G-spot stimulation a lot quicker than I currently can. Even with my weak G-spot I can definitely feel a lot of good potential in this toy, so if you’re someone with a nicer G-spot then me then I think you’ll definitely enjoy this toy.

Alternatively I have also found that the Laid D.1 Stone is very enjoyable when just thrusted like a normal dildo. The weight feels very pleasurable inside and it can even hit my A-spot, so orgasms with it this way are intense. In the future I’m likely to continue using it this way unless I have a good reason for trying to achieve G-spot stimulation with it. The only issues with doing it like this is, firstly, it is very heavy so you have to be careful not to thrust too hard or you can risk bruising your insides. Secondly, it isn’t really designed to go in this far, so you’re likely to get very messy hands, I’d recommend having tissues close by. Definitely worth it though.

Cleaning & Care

With proper care the D.1 will last you a lifetime and then some. It is easy to look after, just give it a wipe down with some toy cleaner and warm water after every use. Since it is stone there is no worry that it’ll attract dust while in storage, although like I mentioned earlier you probably want to store it in its packaging or at least the foam cut out. You can use both water and silicone based lubricants with it.

Final Thoughts

Laid D.1 Stone

The Laid D.1 Stone Dildo is the most unique of all my toys and I can’t imagine that is going to change any time soon. It is well designed and simply a stunning addition to any collection small or large. Whether you are into healing stones or not, you can’t deny how amazing the idea of using something that was 300 million years in the making is. While its designed G-spotting use didn’t really work with my body I could definitely feel that for anyone who can easily access theirs it would work really well. Thrusting with it probably wouldn’t be for everyone, especially due to its weight, but when done carefully I personally find it amazing. This toy is great to use, both due to the orgasms it gives me as well as the idea that it helps connect me to the earth. I would whole heartedly recommend this dildo to anyone who asks.

Sadly, Laid are no longer in business, and thus the D.1 Stone Dildo has been discontinued.

However, you can get the toy its unique shape inspired: the We-Vibe Rave!

Stone and Crystal
Review: Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg

Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg

Two things I am hoping to try more of this year are toys made of stone or crystal, and kegel toys. So when I was recently browsing Mojoco’s website to choose toys to review for them, you can imagine my excitement when I saw they sell yoni eggs. Yoni eggs, for those of you who are unfamiliar with them, are essentially the two things I was after combined: a stone egg designed to strengthen your kegel muscles. While I have tried other types of kegel toys previously, I’ve always been a little hesitant to request a yoni egg for review, since unlike the rest they do not come with an attached string for easy removal, and the idea of struggling to retrieve it from my vagina has always freaked me out. But I decided it was about time to face that fear, and was excited when Mojoco decided to send me their Certified Nephrite Jade Egg.

To learn more about what exactly kegel toys and exercises are, you can check out my review of the Fifty Shades of Grey Delicious Pleasure Ben Wa Balls where I cover the subject. While yoni eggs and ben wa balls have the same core purpose, in that they are supposed to help strengthen your pelvic muscles, yoni eggs also have a secondary purpose due to their natural materials, and that is that they are considered to have spiritual healing properties.

Product Description

My Nephrite Jade Egg is 59g, 30mm x 40mm / 1.2″ x 1.6″, and indeed shaped like an egg. This is the medium size version of it, which is all Mojoco stocks, but smaller and larger sizes can be purchased from the manufacturer. There is a small hole drilled into the top of the egg, and this is for if you wish to attach something to help with removal, or if you want to attach weights (this is for more advanced use and I haven’t tested it this way). It’s made from Nephrite Jade, which can appear very dark and practically black when in shadows, but in sunlight it sparkles green. This stone originated in Canada, and is GIA Certified and of the highest quality. It feels completely smooth and silky, and has a MOHS rating of 6.5. Yoni eggs are not suitable for anal use.

Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg

As with all yoni eggs, this can be used to strengthen the pelvic floor which can help with improved bladder control, increased pleasure, and reduced menstrual cramping. But in combination to this, the Nephrite Jade also has its own special properties. Connected to the Heart Chakra and also known as the dream stone, Nephrite Jade can help to cleanse the mind and support love, trustworthiness, and fidelity. Additionally, it can help with: cherishing desires and the building of your dreams, revitalizing energy, healing and health, good luck, a sense of calm, wellbeing and confidence, kidney function, and soothing irritability, among other things.

The Brand

While I received the Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg from Mojoco, it is actually made by Gemstone Yoni from California. They source materials from all around the world for their store, and sell a huge range of yoni eggs and other crystals. While Mojoco only offer this one yoni egg, Gemstone Yoni Eggs have a range of different materials, and also offer different sizes along with non-drilled versions. If you’re looking for information on yoni eggs I would recommend their website, which has heaps of resources for making the most of their products.

Packaging

Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg

My order with Mojoco for the Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg was placed on the 10th of April and it arrived on the 16th which was fantastic. The package was completely discreet, with no mention of the company that sent it or what was inside. Within the initial packaging I then found that my items were very nicely and luxuriously gift wrapped. This isn’t a service I get for free very often, and it made the experience of receiving the product feel a lot more special and memorable. I believe this is a service Mojoco offer for everyone, which I think is fantastic and I wish more small companies did as it really adds a great personal touch. Inside this packaging I then found the yoni egg nicely bubble-wrapped for protection, and in a storage pouch. The pouch is a drawstring bag and made with a silky soft material which features the Gemstone Yoni Eggs logo. I love the inclusion of this, as it’s nice to have somewhere special to store my egg. It also came with a small instruction guide from Gemstone Yoni Eggs, which talks about the Chakras and how to use and care for your crystal. On the store listing for this product on Mojoco it comes with 4 mini pocket crystals, however these were not included in my review version of the item.

Spiritual Use

If you only care about using the egg for its kegel abilities, rather than its spiritual or healing properties, then you can probably skip this next bit. I’ve got to admit, I’m not the best at any of this spiritual stuff either, but I do like the idea of it and am always trying to learn more.

Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg
It can appear very green in certain lights.

When you first get your yoni egg you are suppose to cleanse it. On their website Mojoco write “Crystals & stones absorb energy so although we have loved and cared for your crystal at Mojoco from the moment it arrived it has had a life before us.” First it’s recommended to wash it in hot (but not boiling) water with a natural soap, and then to energetically cleanse it. There are many different ways to do this, but Mojoco’s recommendations are either bathing it in moonlight (especially on a full moon), placing it in sea water, or burning some sage and spreading it over. Gemstone Yoni Eggs also recommends those methods, but additionally suggests placing the egg in the sun or near the earth, such as on the grass, in a hole, or on the beach. By doing this you’ll be removing any negative energy from the egg and instead infusing it with your own energy, and it’s recommended to perform this ritual regularly so you can recharge and reset it. I’ve found my favourite ways to cleanse are with moonlight and sunlight, as this I can do this from my home. But if you live near a beach or have a backyard then these options might also be available for you.

After cleansing there are a few other things you can do to get the most out of your egg. One is meditation, and this can be used to help you set intentions with the egg. To do this you can hold it in your hands, while stating your intentions out loud or in your head. You can also hold it close and envision your dreams and goals so that it may help you achieve them. When I first got the egg I also chose to spend a few days with it close by before using it, to help it get to know my energy and so I felt more connected to it. There are many more rituals and methods for connecting with, cleansing, and energising your yoni egg, too many for me to list in this review. But if you’re interested then do some research as there are plenty of resources for this online, and also feel free to just make up your own rituals and do what feels right for you.

My Experience

Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg

After doing all that stuff it makes the actual use of the Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg seem incredibly simple. Firstly you can either use it as is, or attach some string through its hole to make removing it easier. I would definitely recommend the latter if you are new to yoni eggs, and then over time you’ll get use to removing it and won’t need to attach anything. I was personally very nervous about the idea of yoni eggs that don’t have a string attached, so was super glad this one comes with a hole. For the string it is recommended to use unwaxed, non-flavoured dental floss. I had a bit of trouble finding this in store, and would probably recommend trying to find some online instead as this may be easier. Once this is attached you can then apply some lubricant to it (I prefer to use Good Clean Love Almost Naked as this is very thick and so can be applied all over without dripping off), and slowly insert it with the smaller end pointing down and the string sticking out of you like a tampon. Usually before insertion I also like to first warm it up, either in my hands or in warm water, as otherwise it can be very cold. You shouldn’t feel any discomfort during insertion, so if you do then take it slow.

Once inserted I usually just go about my business. Typically I’ll use the Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg when I do cleaning or cooking, as these are the only real times I am standing up for long periods whilst home. I also like to do kegel exercises, meditate, or masturbate whilst it’s inside, and if I am not planning on doing any standing activities that day then wearing it while I work or watch TV is also good. Since I only wear it for a 30 minutes to an hour at a time I haven’t gone out with it yet, but I don’t think I would have any issues if I did. Usually when I wear it I barely feel anything, and it hardly ever starts to come out by itself. If it does I just do some kegel exercises to get it back into place. If I really focus on it then I can feel its weight, but otherwise it doesn’t distract me.  Removal is then very easy with the string, as you can just pull it out. I have also tried not using the string, and just using my muscles to push it out which has been successful, although I haven’t been confident enough yet to actually wear it without the string attached, just in case I need it.

Cleaning & Care

Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg

Cleaning the Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg couldn’t be easier. First throw out the string used, and then clean it the same way you did when you first got it. This is by placing it in some hot water and adding some of your favourite natural soap, agitating it for a few seconds, and then leaving it to soak for 10 minutes. Afterwards rinse it clean with fresh water and allow to air dry. Be particularly careful to wash out the drilled hole, to make sure nothing hides here. Also make sure to never place the egg in boiling water, and don’t use harsh cleaners or soaps.

Final Thoughts

Overall the Nephrite Jade Yoni Egg has been super fun to try out, learn from, and review. Since I’ve never had a yoni egg before I had to do a lot of research, and I feel like I have learnt so much from the experience of testing it. There is obviously a lot of different information and rituals out there for crystal and stone toys, and I couldn’t include it all, but I have included the things I found most useful, and so I hope you do too. I definitely enjoyed the more spiritual and healing aspect of this yoni egg, as it is an experience I did not get with my previous kegel toys, and after reviewing this egg over the last few months I truly feel connected with it. But if you are interested in this solely for the kegel purposes, then by all means it is fantastic for that too and is a lot less fuss than some silicone kegel balls. I think that this medium size with the hole drilled is perfect for beginners, so I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to start on their yoni egg journey.

Stone and Crystal
Review: Wands of Lust Co Aphrodite

Wands of Lust Co Aphrodite

Sex toys are a unique product in that, as something that is generally seen as risqué and not socially acceptable, people tend to find ways to categorise them so that they become acceptable. It means that rather than just being seen as a plain old vibrator or dildo, with nothing to offer but pleasure (so scary), alternative uses are found that can help take some of that edge off and make them more approachable. There are the geeks and fantasy lovers, who create toys based around pop culture for the ultimate roleplay experience, the artists and design lovers who see toys more like sculptures to be admired, and the nerds and tech lovers who want to innovate sex by connecting toys to our smartphones. But the type I want to talk about today is the wellness and spirituality lovers, who see sex toys as a way to deeply connect with your body and soul. And no product is more popular with this crowd than the iconic rose quartz wand.

Product Description

Wands of Lust Co Aphrodite Small End

The double ended rose quartz wand is the star of the sexual wellness movement that has been occuring over the last few years, and bestseller of the many crystal shops that have popped up alongside it. I’ve wanted one for a long time, but between their price and the fact that they’re regularly stocked by small businesses, it just hasn’t happened. That is, until my blog sponsor Wands of Lust Co offered to send out their Aphrodite for review, which is their take on this classic dildo. Made of 100% rose quartz, the toy is named after the Greek goddess of sexual love and desire, and by targeting the heart chakra, use of this toy should attract love and contentment, and will not only serve you physically, but spiritually too, awakening a deep feeling of self-love and re-energising the soul. Being crystal, it is fairly heavy at 430g, and cold to the touch as well, although its ability to retain heat does make it perfect for temperature play. Having two sides then not only gives you more options, but ensures it will suit your preferences, with the smaller end being around 2.2cm / 0.87″ in diameter, and the larger end being around 3.8cm / 1.5″. And while these might seem thin, the completely firm crystal will make them feel girthier than they are, plus the middle of the toy goes up to a maximum diameter of 4.1cm / 1.6″ (which is why they also stock a Aphrodite Jnr if that sounds more your style). A smooth polish then helps with insertion, and with a length of just 17cm / 6.7″ things are kept quite shallow. My particular wand looks a lot lighter than the pictures on Wands of Lust Co’s website, being just a touch of pink, although it still has many of the visual details that make this material so impressive, with various crystallized elements within its semi-transparent body. Plus, light also travels through it so that it can look different depending on where it is, which may account for the colour discrepancy. The only real downside is that a few small scratches are present on my copy, which feature a slight amount of yellowing around them, which is something I will need to keep an eye on. Finally, it’s also worth mentioning that the Aphrodite is not anal-safe, as it has no base.

The Brand

Wands of Lust Co Aphrodite with storage pouch and crystal

Opening late 2021, Wands of Lust Co is a small sydney-based business by Julie Mlinaric, who, after suffering from chronic vaginismus, found relief after using crystal yoni eggs. She now aims to help others by using crystals for pleasure and healing, and to share her own success at elevating her sexual experiences. Specialising in crystals, sex toys, candles, and more, Julie puts a particular emphasis on how her products can influence your chakras and energies, and provides helpful information on her product listings and blog. Plus, for those who aren’t sure where to start, she offers a free quiz which tells you which crystal to choose based on your goals and star sign. In addition, Wands of Lust Co are also committed to offering sustainable, discreet packaging, and while they ship internationally, delivery within Australia is free on orders over $150 AUD.

Packaging

My order for the Aphrodite was placed with Wands of Lust Co on the 27th of July and I recieved it on the 2nd of August. The box was quite discreet, with no mention of the sender or what was inside, however a large sticker on it did feature pictures of crystals (but nothing to suggest it’s NSFW). Opening this up, I then found a beautiful interior, with branded tissue paper and a cute handwritten sticker with my name on it. Containing plenty of packaging protection to ensure everything arrived safely, the toy itself was then wonderfully gift wrapped, complete with an adorable bow that made me feel like I was opening a Christmas present. In addition to the Aphrodite, I also received a branded high-quality storage bag, alongside a thank you card offering a 10% discount and an additional crystal to match. Overall, I was very happy with all of this, with it feeling special and personalised. Plus, there was no plastic at all and the box and packaging protection were all recyclable (and seemed to be mostly recycled materials in the first place), which is great to see and really proves Wands of Lust Co’s commitment to sustainability.

My Experience

Since the Wands of Lust Co Aphrodite is very cold when you first start handling it (especially since it’s winter here), I like to start by heating it under some warm water. Then, using the smaller end first, it inserts quite easily with a small amount of lubricant, and the smooth surface helps me adjust to the hard, tapered shaft. Since this end is quite pointed, I do then need to be careful to not thrust it too hard, and while I can get a little G-Spot stimulation from it, this isn’t much since it is so straight. Additionally, I do also need to keep in mind that if I thrust too deep, not only will my hand get very messy, but it’ll make the toy much more difficult to hold, so keeping thrusts quite shallow is recommended. Not to mention that since most of the weight is at the larger end of the toy, I also need to ensure I am holding it at all times, otherwise it will fall out. Due to all this, whilst I do enjoy using the smaller end, I have actually found myself surprisingly more drawn to the larger side. Inserting it (which can only be done after I’ve warmed up with the smaller end) almost feels like I am using a vaginal plug, as the toy’s weight means that it just sinks down inside of me for a 100% hands-free experience. I can then either leave it there to do its thing alongside another toy, or pull it back out to thrust with (which, admittedly, is also quite messy, but worth it), and with the increased girth it also allows for much more G-Spot pleasure. Plus, another benefit to this is that if I allow it to almost insert fully, it basically takes up no room, meaning I can use products such as wand massagers and suction toys that don’t usually work alongside dildos or plugs due to their bases being in the way. And as you can imagine, this has led to some almighty orgasms with the Aphrodite, cementing itself as a stand-out amongst my toy box.

Cleaning & Care

Cleaning the Wands of Lust Co Aphrodite is easy since it is waterproof, just make sure to place it down gently when putting it in ceramic sinks or baths. Using a mild soap, wash the toy before rinsing and leaving to air dry, and after this you may place it into the storage bag it came with. Wands of Lust Co also recommend cleansing your crystal every now and then to get rid of any unwanted energy, and this can be done through methods such as smudging it with sage or letting it bathe under the moonlight of a full moon. Never place your crystal under boiling water, as it may force it to crack, and if any cracks ever do occur then discontinue use.

Final Thoughts

I adore testing uncommon sex toy materials. So far I’ve tried wood, glass, metal, ceramic, and stone, but this is my very first crystal toy, and it’s something I’ve been eager to get my hands on for years now. The surprise here though, is that whilst these unusual materials are fun, usually they are the main attraction rather than the toy itself being hugely pleasurable. But the Wands of Lust Co Aphrodite breaks this stereotype, because not only was the rose quartz itself and all of its healing properties exciting to use, but it felt damn good too. The real genius of it was in its double-ended shape, with both ends complementing each other so well that rather than being two separate elements, they instead worked together as a cohesive whole. For example, while I preferred the hands-free, plug-like nature of the larger end, I would have never been able to adequately warm up to it without its smaller companion, and it was only with the thinness of this alternate side that I was able to have the freedom to use whatever I wanted on my clitoris, which was the real cincher. With this in mind, I can definitely see why the Aphrodite is such an icon, and I’m so glad Wands of Lust Co were able to share this experience with me. So, for anyone wanting a crystal toy, or if you’re just looking for a luxury dildo that doesn’t hold back on the pleasure, make sure to give this a go.

You can get the Aphrodite directly from Wands of Lust Co for just $189 AUD / $128 USD, plus use my code GRACE to get 20% OFF your total order!

Honey Play Box Joi Thrust 2

As a fan of Honey Play Box’s Joi (so much so I even gave one away last year!), it’s been exciting to see this now award-winning vibrator get the love it deserves. And with the US-based brand unsurprisingly capitalising on this success, a number of follow-up toys have since been added to what is now the Joi collection. I wanted so badly to get my hands on either the Joi Pro or Joi Thrust when they first came out, with the former including a remote control and the latter offering thrusting and app compatibility, but prior obligations meant I was unable. So I bided my time, and after my reviews of the OLY 2 and RORA 2 a few months ago, I knew a similar version of the Joi with advanced capabilities couldn’t be far off. And I was right, because here I am now with the new Honey Play Box Joi Thrust 2.

SVAKOM Cici 2

My favourite sex toy trend this year so far has to be the rise of the slim vibe. These kinds of toys have always been around, whether for beginners, those who struggle with penetration, or just for people who simply prefer them. But until now they haven’t really been highlighted, instead relegated to the back of the shelf just in case someone happens to ask. Not to mention that many of them have a medical, rather than pleasure, spin, and whilst there is certainly still a place for these, it doesn’t need to be the standard. Recognising this fact, brands like AROSUM, whom I spoke about in my recent guide on Vaginal Tightness, are now meeting the demand, and consumers have been showing just how hungry they were for pleasure-focused vibrators with a reduced girth. SVAKOM’s popular Cici, for instance, has been so successful that they’ve now added the follow-up model to their app-controlled catalogue, and that’s exactly what I’m going to be exploring today.

Pink Punch Dream Bunny

Last year the most exciting new brand I tried had to be Pink Punch. Launching onto the scene with their adorable aesthetic, which evoked early 2000s nostalgia with their Polly Pocket-style cases and cyberpunk app, their flagship product the Sunset Mushroom, and later the Peachu, not only looked amazing but offered a range of features that I just couldn’t resist. Both had charging stations, with the Sunset Mushroom’s resembling an AirPods case both in design and the way it functioned, whilst other elements such as their exquisite packaging, app-control and squishy translucent silicone all made for a level of quality that I don’t see enough of in this industry. The only downside was that neither the Sunset Mushroom nor Peachu were actually very good sex toys, and even though their compatible app is one of the better ones, it still wasn’t enough for me to recommend them. I could clearly see the potential, however, and so I’ve kept tabs on the brand ever since, eager to get my hands on whatever they released next in the hopes that it would finally be the one. Well, when I saw the Dream Bunny I was over the moon, and even more so when they asked if I wanted to review it!

Honey Play Box RORA 2

When I first tried the Honey Play Box app for my review of their original OLY, they only had a handful of compatible toys that ran alongside it. So, when the US brand recently got back in touch about reviewing their OLY 2, I was delighted to see that in addition to the app’s new range of features, there were also many more products designed to work with it. Some of these, such as the OLY and JOI, are now in their second or even third generations, and it is one such toy that I’ll be reviewing today. The new RORA 2 is the successor to Honey Play Box’s popular RORA dual-stimulator, which brings 360° rotations to the G-Spot. And whilst I don’t own the original, it seems that, like the OLY 2, the only real changes here are the new app-related features, such as voice control, pressure sensing and temperature detection.

Honey Play Box OLY 2

I’m such a fan of Honey Play Box, that when I tried their new app for the first time a few months ago, I was a bit taken aback. The app itself was fine, a little weird to navigate and without any social features, but otherwise it did what it needed to do. Instead, it was the app on Honey Play Box’s website and the instructions included with my OLY that was not fine… because it was completely different! Not only did the two apps look nothing alike, but many of the advertised features simply didn’t exist on the real thing, causing concerns of false advertising. Of course I let Honey Play Box know my worries, and they quickly got to work updating their website to match the current version. But by then I had finished my testing, and never got the chance to revisit it. Until today, that is, for my review of the Honey Play Box OLY 2!

Honey Play Box OLY

I’ve already tested a handful of app-controlled toys in 2023, but so far none of them have offered the convenience that makes me want to keep using the app in my spare time. Since I’m mostly using toys solo, the best way to incorporate apps into my routine is during extended wear, rather than bedside play. This is what I had hoped for with my recent review of the We-Vibe Ditto+, but with glitches getting in the way of any enjoyment, I was instead left feeling unfilled. That’s when my long-time sponsor Honey Play Box stepped in, who recently released a sex toy app of their own, complete with long-distance control. Debuting alongside it are six compatible toys, including an upgraded thrusting version of the popular Joi that I reviewed a few months ago, however I only had eyes for the OLY, a wearable panty vibrator that I knew would perfectly fill the hole that the Ditto+ had left… or, should I say, the other hole!

There are the geeks and fantasy lovers, who create toys based around pop culture for the ultimate roleplay experience, the artists and design lovers who see toys…

Review: Wands of Lust Co Hercules

Wands of Lust Co Hercules

The world of crystals and harnessing their energy for healing and meditation is a truly fascinating one. I’ve tried a few sex toys now that make use of this unique material, and learning about their different properties and how they can bring positive change to your life is just as mesmerising as actually using them. But alas, despite my interest and efforts, I don’t know how much I find myself truly understanding these things beyond reading about them. Instead, I mostly just think crystals look pretty, and that’s okay too. So when Wands of Lust Co recently approached me about sending another of their products, I knew I wanted to go in a totally different direction visually than my previous review on their Aphrodite. And what’s more different from the translucent pink of rose quartz, than the endless black of pure obsidian?

Product Description

Wands of Lust Co Hercules large end

I may not know as much about crystals as Wands of Lust Co’s typical customer base, but as a long-time Dungeons & Dragons player, I do know my way around a piece of fictitious obsidian. We’re always coming across obsidian doors, obsidian swords, obsidian obelisks, and so on, and I’ve always wanted to own some of this crystal that’s clearly been inspiring fantasy writers for decades. So to combine my two passions with a dildo made of obsidian? Well, it doesn’t get much better than that, and I was overjoyed to see the Hercules in this Australian small business’s store. Formed by the quick cooling of volcanic lava and targeting the root chakra, obsidian is a powerful protective and grounding crystal that can aid with strength, focus, circulation, and much more. Plus, the other thing that excited me about this review, compared to my previous thoughts on their Aphrodite, is that the Hercules has a very different shape. While both products maintain that double-ended nature that is practically a trademark of stone dildos, this toy is also curved for maximum G-Spot stimulation. With a length of 19.5cm / 7.68″, the smaller end features a rounded head with a diameter of only 3cm / 1.18″, whilst the larger end features a bulbous, yet also heavily tapered, tip that is 4cm / 1.59″ in diameter. Of course, both ends will feel a lot larger than they actually are due to the completely firm obsidian, whilst it simultaneously aids insertion with such a silky smooth and polished surface. In regards to the Wands of Lust Co Hercules’ weight, it then comes in at 384g (which is different from the original weight of 445g on their website, although this error has now been updated), making it much lighter than the Aphrodite, and it’s also important to note that since it doesn’t have a base, this toy is neither compatible with a harness or anal safe.

Packaging

Wands of Lust Co Hercules with thank you card, matching stone and massage oil

My order for the Hercules was placed with Wands of Lust Co on the 13th of June and it arrived promptly on the 15th, which was great. Plus, the package was 100% discreet, with no mention of what was inside or who sent it. The package was then very similar to my previous order with Wands of Lust Co, arriving in a personalised and gift wrapped box using only recyclable materials, keeping in line with the brand’s commitment to sustainability. In addition to the toy, I also again received a high-quality drawstring pouch for storage (although this one is a little different, and even nicer than the last), alongside a thank you card with a discount for further orders and a matching smaller crystal. Finally, since Wands of Lust Co are currently sending free bottles of their Massage Oil with orders over $200 AUD / $134 USD, which the Hercules automatically qualifies for, they also included this in my package, and I’ve been enjoying it ever since.

My Experience

Wands of Lust Co Hercules small end

Whilst inserting the larger end of the Wands of Lust Co Hercules right off the bat is possible, it’s difficult enough to make starting with the smaller end my preferred option. Plus, depending on the time of the year, you might want to first do something about its naturally cold temperature, and since it’s mid-winter here I’ve been starting by warming mine up in some warm water. Inserting the small end is then easy, and whilst its slim shape does feel a little strange, it still benefits from that curved shaft, allowing for a good amount of G-Spot stimulation. After an orgasm with this, however, I am ready to move on, feeling akin to having an entrée before a main course. The larger end feels so much more prominent, and its weight really lends to this as well, sinking down deep within me. Finding my G-Spot with ease, stimulation of this area is immensely pleasurable, providing me with some terrific orgasms when paired with a soft clitoral vibrator, such as my We-Vibe Touch X (harder options, like the Doxy Bullet or We-Vibe Tango X, don’t play as nicely with a firm dildo like this, clanging against the material and pinching the skin). The only downside is that its short length means there is little I can use as a handle, and so it doesn’t take long before my wrist gives out and I’m forced to stop, due to the amount of pressure I need to place on it to keep the Hercules hitting my G-Spot. Not to mention that you’re pretty much guaranteed to get a bit messy from all of this, which can make holding the toy even harder.

Cleaning & Care

Cleaning the Wands of Lust Co Hercules is easy since it is waterproof, just make sure to place it down gently when putting it in ceramic sinks or baths. Using a mild soap, wash the toy before rinsing and leaving to air dry, and after this you may pop it into the storage bag it came with.

Wands of Lust Co Hercules with storage bag

After so enjoying my experience with the Wands of Lust Co Aphrodite, I was intrigued at how much a different shape and material could impact their Hercules in use. There were certainly similarities, such as the way that the two ends of the toy harmonised together, with use of the smaller side being necessary in allowing me to warm up before taking the larger end. But the actual pleasure that resulted was quite different. Unsurprisingly, due to its curved shaft, the Hercules worked far better to stimulate my G-Spot, and because of this I would say both sides of it were able to bring me to a far superior orgasm than the Aphrodite. But whilst that was a toy I could relax into, allowing its weight to do all the work whilst I laid back for a hands-free experience, the Hercules instead requires significant effort, to the point where my use of it was limited to what my wrists could support. I don’t think either option is necessarily better, it just depends on what you’re in the mood for on the day (I love crab, for instance, but that doesn’t mean I always want to go to the effort of removing its shell). Of course, if you’re trying to make a decision for purchase, I would suggest first asking yourself if you enjoy G-Spot stimulation? And if the answer is “yes”, then the follow up question should be how much do you really enjoy crystals? Because G-Spot legends, like the Njoy Pure Wand ($220 AUD / $160 USD), Godemiche Morpheus ($70 AUD / $45 USD), and Hot Octopuss KURVE ($170 AUD / $130 USD), are all cheaper than the Wands of Lust Co Hercules, meaning you’re really going to be paying a premium just for the unique obsidian material. With this in mind, I would absolutely recommend this product to any lover of crystals who is also happy to go to the extra effort for some top-notch G-Spot stimulation, but for everyone else, you’ll probably be better off with one of the cheaper suggestions above, which includes the Aphrodite.

You can get the Hercules directly from Wands of Lust Co for just $229 AUD / $156 USD, plus use my code GRACE to get 20% OFF your total order!
